One day, quantum computers will perform rapid calculations and solve complex tasks for us. However, there are a few hurdles to overcome along the way. Basel-based physicist Dr James Wootton is searching for methods that allow information to be encoded and then decoded again using quantum mechanics. And a game for smartphones is going to help him do so.

Decodoku is available as an app in two versions – for iOS and also for Android. The game can also be played online. For anyone who wishes to delve deeper into the subject, Wootton gives a detailed and comprehensible description of the scientific background to Decodoku on his . He also answered, along with other quantum researchers from Switzerland, questions about the game and his research on the science section of popular website .
